Is Akoua tuned for UK medicine?

The honest answer is not yet, and we would rather you knew that before you decided than after.

What is Australian today

• The drug vocabulary is Australian. Medication recovery works against a PBS/AMH vocabulary — see medication name corrections. There is no BNF or UK-specific vocabulary.
• Letter completeness gates are RACGP-aware. Referral letters are checked against Australian expectations of what a referral should contain.
• Billing hints are Australian-only. MBS item-number hints are switched off entirely for UK organisations, because the schedule is Australian. There is no UK billing-code feature and we are not claiming one — see why don’t I see billing hints?
• The speech benchmarks are Australian. Our published figures come from internal benchmarks on synthetic Australian-accent clinical audio and public speech corpora. We have not published UK-accent numbers, so we won’t imply them.
• The practice-software integrations are Australian products. Cliniko is enabled for the United Kingdom deployment; Nookal is currently disabled. Each organisation can choose the appointment and patient. The systems themselves are Australian, and no UK-specific practice software has been announced. See exporting notes and letters.

What works the same anywhere

Most of the product has no nationality:

• near-live transcription, and telling your voice from everyone else’s;
• the two uncertainty flags — anything it wasn’t sure it heard or couldn’t place cleanly is surfaced instead of smoothed over;
• [ not stated ] rather than a plausible invention for anything that wasn’t said;
• grounding every note statement to the transcript, and listening back to any flag;
• nothing saved until you confirm it;
• letters and tasks drafted from the same consult, each one a draft you confirm;
• the privacy architecture — audio deleted by default, the QR deletion receipt, the append-only audit log.

A consult is a consult. What differs is the local vocabulary and paperwork around it.
