Why does listen-back stop working after I confirm?

Because, by default, the moment you confirm the note the audio Akoua holds is deleted (a fixed-window practice policy keeps it to its deadline, 7 days at most). Listen-back is a review tool, and review is the only window in which the recording exists.

What listen-back is for

A dotted underline means Akoua isn’t sure it heard something. The only honest way to settle that is to hear it again, so audio is kept AES-256-encrypted while the draft is open and the flagged moment is playable from the draft. You check the word, you correct it or leave it, you move on.

Only you can listen, and only while the draft is open. Every access to the record is written to an append-only audit log.

Why it ends at confirm

Audio is deleted by default. Keeping a recording after the note is settled would mean holding the most sensitive artefact of the consultation for no remaining purpose — so Akoua doesn’t. Confirming is the trigger, which is also what makes the patient’s QR deletion receipt able to flip to “Verified”.

The practical consequence: do your listening before you confirm. Afterwards the note, letters and tasks remain, and there is nothing left to listen to.

If you never confirm

An abandoned draft doesn’t keep its audio indefinitely. An automatic sweep deletes it within seven days — a hard ceiling enforced by the system, not a setting anyone can forget. Once that sweep has run, listen-back is gone for that draft too, even though you never confirmed it.

What remains afterwards

The confirmed note remains; the audio does not. You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the note you confirm, which is the reason to work the flags while you still have the recording to check them against.
