How is VAT handled?
UK listed prices exclude VAT, which is applied at checkout where applicable; every price on the UK pricing page shows the inc-VAT figure beside it.
Listed UK prices exclude VAT. VAT is applied at checkout where applicable, and every price on the UK pricing page shows the inc-VAT figure beside the ex-VAT one — £49 and £58.80, £69 and £82.80, £690 and £828.00, and so on — so there is no arithmetic to do.
Paying by card
Subscribe on the web and Stripe handles the payment. The ex-VAT figure is what is listed; VAT is added at checkout where it applies, and the invoice shows it separately.
When this applies
United Kingdom sign-up is open — see is Akoua available in the United Kingdom?. These are the terms for a subscription, and the UK sub-processor list names who handles billing.
What we can’t tell you
Whether your practice can recover the VAT is a question for your accountant, not for us — it depends on your VAT registration and how you account for it.
GST is the Australian equivalent and applies to Australian customers only; New Zealand organisations are billed the listed AUD figure. That is a separate story in how is GST handled?
