What do the iPhone and Apple Watch apps do?
The iPhone and Apple Watch app is the in-room capture app, on the App Store now — start, stop and check a recording from the companion watch app on your wrist.
The iPhone and Apple Watch app is the in-room capture app, and its App Store listing is published. Start, stop and check a recording from the wrist — the watch app is a companion to the iPhone app — under the same subscription as everything else. Clinical access is open in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, and coming soon elsewhere.
Capture where the consult happens
They’re built for the times you aren’t sitting at a screen: a ward round, bedside to bedside, or a consult where reaching for a laptop would be the wrong thing to do. Wrist control means the phone can stay in your pocket — in v1 the watch is a companion that starts, stops and checks the recording on your paired iPhone; standalone capture from the watch alone is on the roadmap.
Everything else holds exactly as it does elsewhere. Capture starts only in a consented session — including audio relayed from a paired watch — and the audio is kept encrypted only while you review the draft. Your clinical record is stored in Australia (Sydney) on the AU Sovereign and Global profiles — in the United Kingdom on the UK Sovereign region — and where the audio is processed depends on the sovereignty profile your organisation chose at sign-up, which privacy by design sets out in full. Confirm the note and the audio is deleted; abandoned drafts are swept within 7 days. Akoua remains a documentation aid, not a diagnostic device — it makes no clinical inferences, and no note is saved until you confirm it.
Where the rest of the work happens
The full product — capture, review, letters, tasks and, for Australian organisations, billing hints — is the web app in your browser: see what you can do in the web app. On the desktop, the Windows app covers the consult room and telehealth.
Subscribing on iOS
Individual subscriptions taken out on iOS are billed through the App Store at a price that already includes the tax that applies where you are, and managed or cancelled in your App Store subscription settings; Android goes through Google Play the same way, and everything else is billed via Stripe. One subscription covers all your devices, so you don’t pay twice for the phone and the browser. Pricing sets out the plans.
The download page lists every app with its store link, platform by platform.
