Are there Mac, Windows or Android apps?

Yes — all three. Windows is on the Microsoft Store, Mac is on the App Store, and Android is on Google Play.

Windows — the full desktop scribe

Akoua for Windows is the full desktop scribe, for the consult room and for telehealth. It captures in-room consults straight from your PC, and over telehealth it records both sides of a Zoom or Teams consult — your voice and the patient’s kept clearly apart — so a remote consult gets the same honest note as an in-room one. Review, drafting, letters, tasks and (for Australian organisations) MBS billing hints all run on the desktop, and it ends where every Akoua platform ends: only what was said, and no note saved until you confirm it.

Mac — the same desktop scribe on macOS

Akoua for Mac brings that same desktop capture — in-room and telehealth — to macOS, with the same review queue, letters, tasks and (for Australian organisations) billing hints.

It comes from the App Store. Mac, iPhone and Apple Watch are one universal purchase on a single listing, so buying any of the three covers all three.

It requires macOS 14.4 or later on an Apple silicon Mac — an M1 or newer. We’d rather name that than let you find it at the App Store: on an Intel Mac there is no native app, and the web app is the full workflow in a browser instead.

Choose the Akoua Cloud region for your practice

The Windows and Mac welcome screen offers two Akoua Cloud regions:

• Australia — for practices in Australia and New Zealand. Records are hosted in Australia.
• United Kingdom — for practices in the United Kingdom. Records are hosted in the United Kingdom.

Choose the region your practice belongs to; Akoua does not silently infer or confirm it from your device location. The desktop app no longer offers self-hosting as a normal welcome-screen choice. If you change the saved region, select Save region, then quit and reopen Akoua Desktop before signing in. The server connection is deliberately fixed for each app launch.

UK account creation is on the web at uk.akoua.ai; the apps sign you in to the UK service, and the Mac App Store companion remains sign-in-only and directs account setup to the web.

At the bottom of the welcome screen, Made in Australia describes where Akoua was made — it is not a hosting claim. Hosted in names where records are stored, and Processing in separately names where the selected server says processing occurs.

Android — on Google Play

Akoua for Android is on Google Play. It’s the in-room capture app, and it does what the iPhone app does: capture in the consult room and on the ward round, near-live transcription with the same uncertainty flags, and the full review queue on the phone — nothing saved until you confirm.

There’s no Wear OS companion yet, so wrist control of a recording is Apple Watch only for now. One account signs you in on Android as it does everywhere else, and a note started on the phone is waiting when you get back to a desktop.

The web app also still works in a mobile browser if you’d rather not install anything — what the web app covers is the same full product: capture, review, letters, tasks and, for Australian organisations, billing hints.

One account, every platform

One account covers every device, so nothing needs to be bought again per platform. Clinical access is open in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, and coming soon elsewhere. Sign up in Australia or New Zealand, sign up in the United Kingdom, or register interest elsewhere rather than creating an Australian account.
