Akoua for Android is live. It brings the in-room scribe to the device already in your pocket, and it does what the iPhone app does — the same capture, the same flags, the same review queue — while keeping the promise that holds across every Akoua platform: only what was said, and nothing saved until you confirm.
Capture — clinic room and ward round

What you see as it listens
- Near-live transcription — words appear about 1.5 seconds after they’re spoken.
- Binary speaker attribution — Akoua tells your voice from the patient’s, so the transcript stays clearly separated.
- Uncertainty, surfaced rather than hidden:
- “Not sure I heard this” — a dotted underline you can tap to listen back to that moment.
- “Heard it, couldn’t place it” — a highlighted review block to re-read and settle.
- [ not stated ] — anything absent from the conversation is marked explicitly, never invented.
- Every drafted statement is grounded to the transcript.
Review and confirm — on device
- The full review queue runs on the phone: work through the flags, listen back, and settle each one.
- Akoua drafts the note for you to confirm, and nothing is saved until you do. On confirm, the note is saved and the audio is deleted — and the patient can keep a QR deletion receipt to check it later.

Built for Australian practice
- A roughly 2,900-drug PBS/AMH vocabulary recovers garbled medication names transparently — every correction shown and revertible.
- MBS billing-item hints for Australian organisations — a read-only draft from the consult, with its reasoning shown. They are switched off everywhere else.

No Wear OS app yet
The iPhone app has a companion Apple Watch app for starting and stopping a recording from the wrist. There is no Wear OS equivalent yet — we’d rather name that than let you find it after installing. Capture on Android runs from the phone.
Privacy and security
- On AU Sovereign, everything stays in Australia: transcription and note drafting run on vetted Australian services over private links inside Akoua’s cloud — disclosed on every note, under the consent your organisation gives for that processing. Ordinary consent to record is a separate authority, given for each consultation. Speaker identity, including any voice profile, is matched only on Akoua’s own infrastructure and never sent to a provider. Nothing is processed outside Australia without a separate, explicit request for that specific session. Clinical data is never used to train models.
- Deleted by default: audio is removed the moment you confirm, and abandoned drafts are swept within 7 days.
- Encrypted with AES-256, with an append-only audit log recording every access.
- Passkey sign-in — no password to phish.
How it fits with the rest of Akoua
One account covers every device. A note you start on an Android phone is there in the web app, on Windows and Mac, and on iPhone and Apple Watch too. Notes leave Akoua as clean text and PDF, and Australian practices can connect Cliniko or Nookal; the other practice-software integrations are still on the roadmap.
Akoua is a documentation aid — the note, not the guess. It surfaces and drafts; you decide. It is not a diagnostic device.
Getting it
Get Akoua for Android on Google Play. Australia and New Zealand are open for sign-up; United Kingdom access is invite-only; elsewhere, register interest rather than creating an Australian account. A subscription taken out in the Android app is billed by Google through Google Play, at a price that already includes the applicable tax, and is managed or cancelled in your Google Play subscription settings.
